After working in the vinyl record industry for 20 years, Scott decided to open his own shop, Revolution Records in September 2015 at 166 Ottawa St. N. As a resident of Crown Point, he enjoyed the community of the neighbourhood and enjoys the community of the street as well as participating in the street events throughout the year. Merchant Feature: Where Heads Meet

When James found himself unemployed during the 2009 recession, he began repairing an old computer and rediscovered a business plan for a long time dream of his - Where Heads Meet. He decided to pull the trigger and opened his original location at 162 Ottawa St. N. Growing up in the community, James enjoys the area and finds that Ottawa St. N has a small town feel to the street given that it is in the middle of the city. With over 40 years of upholstery experience, starting with upholstery in the auto industry, Alex Noble ventured into furniture upholstery at a young age and eventually opened Noble Upholstery in 1997. Drawn to the strong textile industry presence on Ottawa St. N, Alex felt it was a natural place to open an upholstery business. Since opening 22 years ago, the family has enjoyed seeing the progress of the street and see it bloom with a variety of businesses. Merchant Feature: Quality Bakery

Buying the business in 1999 from close friends who had run the bakery since the 60s, Margaret began to learn the art of baked breads at 150 Ottawa St. N. When she purchased the bakery, she moved the business to Ottawa St. N because she was drawn to the thriving life of Ottawa St. N. Her specialties include rye bread, artisan breads and challah bread - she still uses recipes handed down through the generations that originally come from Polish Jews pre-World War II! Learning the craft from his mother Liza (who owns Liza's Salon down the street), Alexander decided to break out on his own and 24 years ago, he opened Confidence Hair Salon at 134 Ottawa St. N. Amir worked in his father, Bizhan's shop in the old Centre Mall throughout high school and upon graduating, opened his own business in the mall. When the mall was closed in 2008, they moved to 333 Ottawa St. N and opened Riders Solutions, selling biking gear. Two years later, they decided to get into electric bikes and the rest is history. Sharron and her husband first opened Stardust records in September of 1983 after the record store Sharon worked for decided to close their doors. Maureen founded Aloft Massage Therapy in 2016 and through the Small Business Enterprise Center, she received a grant to be able to expand her business space and Lila joined her in late 2017, followed by Nancy in 2018. Caitlyn, Nicole and Madeliene all joined recently and this past fall they decided to found the Ottawa Street Health Collective as they found they were often referring patients to each other and joining forces would draw more attention to their space as well as draw in more patients and other like-minded providers.
